After the murder, it could not be proved in the investigation that it was Akbar who fired the bullet. Had there been some other politician in place of Liaquat, perhaps the Pakistan government would have set up an investigation into the murder.
Liaquat Ali Khan’s murder case could not be solved
He first became the Finance Minister of India, then the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The name was Liaquat Ali Khan, In undivided India, when the interim government was formed under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru and Nehru became the PM and in this government Liaquat Ali Khan was made the Finance Minister. However, after the Indo-Pak partition, Liaquat Ali Khan went to Pakistan and became the first Prime Minister there.
He was born on 1 October 1895 and was shot dead on this day in 1951. He was such a Prime Minister of Pakistan, whom only his close ones hated.
shot in company garden
Politics in Pakistan has been full of instability since the beginning. Pakistan has such a history that no prime minister has completed his term. Before 5 years, either the government fell there, or there was a coup or it was murdered. The same happened with Liaquat Ali. Liaquat struggled with ups and downs for almost four years after becoming the Prime Minister.
That date was- October 16, 1951, the place- Company Garden. He was about to address Liaquat after reaching the people. Just standing in front of the mike, the bullet was fired. The bullet hit Liaquat and he fell on the stage itself. He was immediately taken to the Army Hospital. The operation was done. He was declared brought dead by the hospital a few hours later.
The mystery of death could not be solved
The mystery of Liaquat Ali’s death has not been solved till date. It was not clear who fired at Liaquat Ali Khan in the Company Garden. About the shooting in the Company Garden, it was told that Liaquat Ali Khan was shot by a person named Sayeed Akbar. In front of the crowd where the man was standing, the bullet fired from there and he was killed by a policeman. However, after the murder, the investigation could not prove that the bullet was fired by Akbar.
Had there been some other politician in place of Liaquat, perhaps the Pakistan government would have set up an investigation into the murder. But since Liaquat was made the Prime Minister, the eyes of many people kept knocking and his chair kept staggering. Some people did not even want him to be the PM. Muhammad Ali Jinnah had made him the prime minister, but he too was later disillusioned with Liaquat.
During Liaquat’s tenure, Pakistan had to face defeat in the first war with India. After the defeat, Pak PM Liaquat had to compromise with Pandit Nehru. Due to all this, the image of Liakal Ali had become that of a weak prime minister in the socialist and communist factions of Pakistan. Under these circumstances, the Pakistan government did not conduct a thorough investigation into the murder of Liaquat and this mystery remained imprisoned in the files.
