University Grants Commission (UGC) is about to start fellowship and research grants for retired teachers on the occasion of Teachers Day. Retired teachers are going to get a big benefit from this. UGC Chief Jagdish Kumar has given this information. In all, five fellowships and research grants will be started. Retired Teacher Fellowship will be started for retired teachers. Jagdish Kumar said, on Teachers’ Day, UGC is announcing several research schemes, which will benefit higher education institutions across the country.
At the same time, apart from the Retired Teachers Fellowship, there are four other fellowships – Savitri Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child, Dr. Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship, In-Service Teachers Research Grant and Dr. DS Kothari Research Grants for newly recruited teachers. . Through these grants and fellowships, the higher education institutions as well as the people receiving them are going to benefit. These five fellowships and research grants are going to be launched on Monday.
What is fellowship and how much will you get?
If we talk about Retired Teacher Fellowship, then it has been brought completely for retired teachers. Through this fellowship, research opportunities will be provided to retired teachers. This fellowship has been brought for the purpose of research. Under this, there are 100 places and the candidates selected under the fellowship will be given Rs 50,000 every month and Rs 50,000 annually as a contingency fund. However, it has not yet been told by the UGC on which subject these retired teachers will have to do research.
What are other fellowships?
Teachers appointed regularly in the in-service teacher research grant will be given research opportunities. In this, 200 selected candidates will be given Rs 10 lakh each for two years. Dr. DS Kothari Research Grant associated with newly appointed teachers is for regularly appointed teachers. Under this, 132 selected candidates will be provided assistance of Rs 10 lakh each for two years.
Under Dr. Radhakrishnan UGC Post Doctoral Fellowship, an opportunity will be provided for higher studies and research in science, engineering, technology, humanities and social sciences including languages in Indian universities and institutes. It has 900 seats, of which 30 percent are reserved for women. Selected candidates will be given a fellowship of Rs 50,000 per month and a contingency amount of Rs 50,000 per annum.
