Former High Commissioner of India to Australia Navdeep Singh Suri
Major action has been taken against a former High Commissioner of India in Australia. The Federal Court of Australia took this action against him after the allegations of the female staff working at his house. The name of this female staff is Seema Shergil. Shergill accused former High Commissioner of India Navdeep Singh Suri of working in unfair conditions and not paying salary.
Shergil told in the court that he worked at Suri’s house for about a year, for which he did not pay. During the hearing in the case, Justice Elizabeth Raper ordered Suri to pay $ 136,000 (about Rs 74 lakh) along with interest as compensation to his former female domestic worker within 60 days. At the same time, people in India are calling this court’s decision against Suri one-sided.
