In America, once again people’s information has been breached. US Department of Transportation (usdot)’s data has been breached. Because of this, the information of 2,37,000 employees of the present and former federal government was at risk of being leaked. Sources having information about this matter have given information about this. In fact, the data breach was done on the TRANSserve transit platform, which pays for the travel costs of government employees.
However, it is not known whether the information has been used for criminal purposes after the leak. USDOT informed Congress about the data leak through an email. At present, the investigation of this matter of data leakage is going on. According to a Reuters report, hacking has been done in some systems of the department, which are used for administrative work. It also includes transit processing system.

Transportation safety system was not affected
USDOT said that the transportation safety system has not been affected due to the data breach. The department has not given information about who is responsible for this attack. It further informed that the department is currently probing the matter. Access to the transit system has been frozen. After this it was secured and then access was achieved.
Due to the data breach, the information of 1,14,000 present employees and 1,23,000 former employees has been affected. US employees and agencies have already been the target of hackers.

Is it China’s hand?
US agencies are often targeted by Chinese hackers. Chinese hackers have been involved in many hacking cases that happened earlier. Russia is also being suspected, because in 2021, they did the work of hacking the data of the Justice Department.
