Bukele took power in El Salvador in 2019. Earlier, Bukele was the mayor of Nuevo Cuscatlán from 2012 to 2015 and of the country’s capital San Salvador from 2015 to 2018. In the year 2018, he formed his own party and won the general elections in 2019.
