Who is Donald Lu?
Donald Lu is a Foreign Service Officer with over 30 years of experience working for the US Government. He has been the Deputy Chief of the US Mission in India from 2010 to 2013. Donald is the top diplomat in the State Department on matters of South and Central Asia. He has also been a former ambassador to Kyrgyzstan and Albania. Donald has also served in the US Embassy in India on two different occasions.

Donald Lu was appointed as the Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs in September 2021. Prior to being ambassador to Albania, he also worked on Ebola in West Africa. Donald served as the State Department’s deputy coordinator on action against Ebola.
From 2001 to 2003, Donald served as deputy director of the Bureau of European Affairs, Office of Central Asian and South Caucus Affairs. He was the Political Officer in Delhi from 1997 to 2000.
