Running in Samarkand, Uzbekistan Shanghai Cooperation Organization Prime Minister at the (SCO) summit Narendra Modi Today on Friday, SCO member countries contribute about 30 percent of the global count and 40 percent of the world’s population also resides in SCO countries. In his speech, he has also given a new idea to improve the fortunes of SCO countries. He said that SCO countries should work for startups and food festivals.
In his address, PM Modi said that we are making progress on making India a manufacturing hub. India’s economy is expected to grow at 7.5% this year, which will be the highest among the world’s major economies. We are focusing on a people-centred development model. He further said that we are supporting innovation per sector. Today there are over 70,000 start-ups in India with over 100 unicorns.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said that we will support the meeting to be chaired by India in 2023.
40 percent of the world’s population from SCO countries: PM Modi
Regarding the way forward for SCO member countries, PM Modi said that we are ready to share our experience with SCO member countries by setting up a special working group on startups and innovation. He said that SCO member countries, They contribute about 30 percent to the global count and 40 percent of the world’s population also resides in SCO countries. India supports greater cooperation and mutual trust among SCO members.
Earlier, PM Narendra Modi along with leaders of other member countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, attended the organization’s annual summit held in the historic city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan on Friday. Xi and Modi came face-to-face for the first time since India and China had a standoff along the border due to the violent clashes in Galwan Valley in June 2020.
PM Modi will meet many leaders
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and other leaders of Central Asian countries are also participating in this conference. The leaders of the permanent members of the group posed together before deliberations during the limited format of the summit.
Modi was warmly received by Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the summit’s premises. After the summit, PM Modi is also scheduled to hold some bilateral meetings. He will meet Putin, Mirziyoyev and Raisi.
PM Modi reached here on Thursday night on a 24-hour tour. In a statement issued before his departure for Samarkand, he said, “I look forward to the SCO summit to exchange views on topical, regional and international issues, to expand the SCO and to further deepen the multi-faceted and mutually beneficial cooperation within the organization.” I’m curious.”
Due to COVID-19, such a summit of SCO is being held after two years, in which the leaders are personally present. The SCO summit in Samarkand will be held in two sessions. There will be a limited session, which is only for the member countries of the SCO, and it will be followed by an extended session, which is likely to be attended by leaders of specially invited countries from the observer country and the presiding country.
The SCO was founded in June 2001 in Shanghai and has eight full members, including the six founding members China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan joined it as full members in 2017.
