Pakistan’s Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, who is facing economic crisis, resigned from his post on Sunday. After this Ishaq Dar will be the new Finance Minister of Pakistan. The formal decision to make Dar the finance minister was taken during a meeting between Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his brother Nawaz Sharif in London on Saturday. Apart from Miftah Ismail and Ishaq Dar, other leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were present in the meeting.
Ismail submitted his resignation to Nawaz Sharif, who is out of politics because of his conviction in corruption cases. But his decisions are considered by the party. “I worked to the best of my ability for four months and owed allegiance to the party and the country,” the PML-N said in a statement quoting Ismail. According to ‘Geo News’, Dar will return from London with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and will take oath next week (Tuesday). Dar is also related to Nawaz Sharif, as his son is married to a daughter of former prime minister Nawaz.
