Holi Ban In Pakistan University: Pakistan has banned Holi celebrations in universities. The Higher Education Commission of the neighboring country announced this ban. Few days ago students of Quaid-e-Azam University celebrated Holi. The video of the celebration went viral on social media. After this, the Education Department banned the Holi festival itself. The ban has been imposed in the struggle to save the country’s ideology and Islamic identity.
The notice issued by the Education Department states that there is no denying the fact that cultural, ethnic and religious diversity creates an inclusive and tolerant society, which deeply respects all religions and creeds. In the notice on Holi celebration in Quaid-e-Azam University, it has been said that it tarnished the image of the country. Along with this, the Education Department advised the students to stay away from such activities. Instead of such events, students have been asked to increase academic activity.

Country’s image tarnished due to Holi celebration
It has been said in the notice that such (Holi) celebrations in the campus do not match with the country’s identity and social values. Instead it would be better if students get involved in academic activities, intellectual debates. Earlier this month, videos of Holi celebrations at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad went viral. In the video, students are seen playing Holi with colors in the college campus and enjoying the celebrations. The event was organized by the Mehran Student Council, a non-political cultural organization of the university.

Clash over Holi celebration
Earlier, there was a clash between fundamentalists and students during the Holi celebrations in the Panjab University campus. He was stopped from celebrating Holi. There is also opposition to the ban imposed on Holi celebrations. The ban is raising questions about the government’s commitment to religious and cultural freedom.
