Kathmandu: Nepali Congress senior leader of Ram Chandra Paudel took the oath of office and secrecy as the third President of Nepal today i.e. on Monday. Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki administered the oath to 78-year-old Poudel at a special ceremony at Sheetal Niwas. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and other high-ranking government officials were also present on the occasion.
Let us tell you that Paudel, a senior leader of Nepali Congress, was elected the third President of the country on Thursday by defeating Subas Chandra Nembang of CPN-UML. Of the 52,628 weightage-based votes cast, Poudel got 33,802 while Nembang got 15,518.

Ramchandra Poudel is from Nepali only. He was born in 1944. He is a very active leader of the Congress. He has completed his graduation from Tribhuvan University. With this, he has done master’s in literature. He has served as Deputy Prime Minister and Speaker of the House of Representatives in Nepal.

Ramchandra Paudel has also played the role of Speaker in the House, he has been in jail for more than a decade. He was supported by ten parties in the elections held on Thursday. Talking to ANI, Ramchandra Poudel said that I have worked on important roles earlier also. So the role that I will be playing will not be new. Let me tell you, on March 17, elections are going to be held for the post of Vice President in Nepal. Four people, including three women, have filed nominations for these elections.
