Let us tell you that India has rejected the allegation of violation of international norms imposed by the Trudeau government regarding the return of 41 Canadian diplomats to the country. The Ministry of External Affairs said that ensuring equal number of Canadian diplomats in India is not a violation of international norms. India said that our step is completely consistent with Article 11.1 of the Vienna Convention.

Trudeau’s statement came hours after Canada rejected the allegation of violation of international norms. Addressing the media in Brampton, Ontario, Trudeau said that the Indian government is making life difficult for millions of people. They are violating international law and diplomatic principles.
India rejected Canada’s allegation
India rejected Canada’s allegation and said that ensuring equal number of Canadian diplomats is not a violation of international norms. We had earlier informed Canada about this decision. India had given an ultimatum to Canadian politicians till October 10 to leave the country. When they could not do so even after the deadline passed, India gave 10 more days to Canada.
The deadline was extended to 20 October. After this, Canada evacuated 41 of its diplomats from here on October 20. Following the return of its 41 diplomats, Canada has said it will close all in-person services at its consulates in Chandigarh, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Canada removed 41 diplomats after ultimatum
After the ultimatum of Modi government, Canada removed 41 of its diplomats from India. Let us tell you that 62 Canadian diplomats live in India. Of these, 41 have been removed. After this, the remaining 21 Canadian diplomats will remain in India. The Indian Foreign Ministry had clearly said that there are many Canadian diplomats in India who interfere in the internal affairs of the country, hence they have been asked to leave the country as soon as possible.

Controversy increased due to Trudeau’s statement

The Canadian PM had said on September 18 that India had a hand in the murder of Khalistani supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India had completely rejected this allegation of Trudeau. India had called Trudeau’s allegations absurd and politically motivated. On June 18 this year, Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada. Canada had held India responsible for this murder.
