The Congress has been attacking the central government over its handling of alleged Chinese incursions in eastern Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.
According to the report of news agency United News of India (UNI), Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted this after a state-run Chinese media journalist posted a video on Twitter.
On January 1, a Chinese journalist had claimed in his tweet that the Chinese national flag was hoisted in the Galvan Valley. This is the same valley where there was a bloody conflict between the soldiers of China and India in June 2020.
Rahul Gandhi said on Twitter, ‘Our tricolor looks good in Galwan. China must answer. Modi ji, break the silence.

China will have to answer.
Modi ji, break the silence!— Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) January 2, 2022
In the video, some Chinese soldiers are shown hoisting their national flag on a rocky mountainous area on New Year’s Eve. However, there is no evidence that this flag was hoisted in the Galwan Valley.
There has been no response from the Government of India in this regard.
Chinese state media journalist Shen Shiwei had tweeted, “Chinese PLA troops in Galwan Valley send New Year’s greetings to the Chinese people on New Year’s Day 2022.”
According to the report, Shiwei is known for leading Chinese propaganda through his writings on social media.

Earlier, Shivei had also mocked Indian Air Force officer Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman for being imprisoned by Pakistani soldiers after the February 2019 Balakot air strikes.
Shivai had attached another picture of him in alleged captivity of Pakistani soldiers along with a felicitated picture of him receiving the Vir Chakra from the President.
Earlier, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi had targeted the government over China’s move to change the names of 15 places in Arunachal Pradesh.
China’s state-run Global Times reported on December 30 that China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs announced on Wednesday (December 29) that it had approved the names of 15 places in Zhangnan (Chinese name for Arunachal Pradesh). is standardized in Chinese alphabets, Tibetan and Roman alphabets. China has been claiming Arunachal to be south of Tibet.
Then Rahul Gandhi had tweeted and said, ‘Just a few days ago we were remembering India’s glorious victory in the 1971 war. For the security and victory of the country, understanding and strong decisions are needed. Hollow rhetoric does not lead to victory.
At the same time, Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala called the Modi government ‘weak’ and accused Prime Minister Modi of keeping silence on Chinese threats to India’s territorial integrity.
However, India had reacted strongly to the naming of 15 places by China and called Arunachal Pradesh as its integral part.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, ‘We have seen such reports. This is not the first time that China has attempted to change the names of places in Arunachal Pradesh. China tried to change the name in this way in April 2017 also.
He said, ‘Arunachal Pradesh was and always will be an integral part of India. Coining up the names of places in Arunachal Pradesh will not change this fact.
This latest action by China has been taken against the backdrop of the ongoing standoff between the two countries on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh in May 2020. In June 2020, more than a dozen Indian and Chinese soldiers were killed in a violent clash in the Galwan Valley.
During the skirmish on 15 June 2020 in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh, 20 Indian Army personnel were martyred. Later China also admitted that five of its military officers and soldiers had died in this incident. This was the most violent clash on the India-China border in nearly 45 years.
Since then there have been several diplomatic and military level talks. At some points of the dispute, both sides have reduced troops in an effort to defuse tensions, yet at other points of the standoff in eastern Ladakh, Indian and Chinese troops continue to face each other.
