Washington: After a long wait and exercise, America has appointed its ambassador to India. by the US Senate President Joe Biden very close to and former mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti (Eric Garcetti) as the Ambassador of India. US Congress Eric Garcetti’s nomination was pending in (Parliament) since July 2021, about 2 years ago, but due to the opposition of many MPs, his name could not be approved.
Voting was held in the Senate on Wednesday on the nomination of Eric Garcetti as the new US Ambassador to India. Earlier last week, the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee voted in favor of Eric Garcetti by a margin of 13 votes against 8 in its business advisory meeting. In July 2021, President Biden nominated Garcetti for this prestigious diplomatic post. He was proposed again in June this year by the Biden administration. In the 100-member US Senate, 52 votes were cast in favor of Garcetti while 42 votes went against him.

- According to his website, Garcetti was raised in the San Fernando Valley, and received a B.A. from Columbia University. and M.A. Did both. He was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and also studied at the London School of Economics (LSE).
- He has also taught at Occidental College and the University of South California (USC). Garcetti also served as an officer in the United States Navy Reserve for 12 years.
- From July 2013 to December 2022, he served as the 42nd Mayor of Los Angeles. He was the first Jewish mayor of the nation’s second largest city and was elected four times to serve as President of the City Council (2006–2012).
- However, his tenure as mayor was marred by several controversies, including allegations of sexual harassment against his friend and advisor, Rick Jacobs. Garcetti later also repeatedly insisted that he was unaware of Jacobs’ alleged behavior.
- Garcetti’s father, Gil, served two terms as Los Angeles County’s 40th District Attorney. His wife, Amy, was a Rhodes Scholar with him at Oxford. The couple married in January 2009 and are parents to an adopted daughter.
