In these 51 years, out of all the disasters that have occurred in the world, 31 percent have occurred only in Asian countries. In the last 51 years, there were 11,778 disasters in the whole world. Of these, 3612 came in Asian countries alone. Asia accounted for 47 percent of the deaths in the world.

Between 1970 and 2021, 2 million people died due to weather in the whole world. According to WMO, 20,87,229 people lost their lives in 51 years. There were 11,778 disasters in the whole world including Asia, Africa, America, Europe. Of these, the maximum damage was caused by cyclonic storms and floods. The impact of these calamities has also caused a lot of economic loss. According to the report, the world has suffered a loss of $ 4,30,000 crore.

Seeing the data presented in the report, the maximum tension is about Asia only. Most of the disasters (3612) have come here. After this comes the number of Africa (1839). There were 2107 disasters in America and Caribbean region. While 1784 disasters have occurred in Europe and 1493 in the South West Pacific region. The lowest number of 943 disasters occurred in South America. 80 percent of the deaths have occurred in Asia and Africa alone.

Bangladesh has had to face the worst weather in Asia. There were 281 incidents of flood, storm and heatwave, in which 5,20,758 people lost their lives. In India too, 573 disasters created furore, in which 1,38,377 died. Myanmar is facing the brunt of the cyclonic storm. The Nargis storm that came in the year 2008 caused huge devastation here. In 51 years, 1,38,366 people died here. Although the maximum number of disasters occurred in China, but 88,457 people died here.
The biggest economic loss to China
In terms of economic loss, China has suffered the most. Due to the floods here in 1998, China suffered a setback of $ 674 billion. While Japan suffered a loss of $19.9 billion, India suffered a loss of $18.3 billion.
