Army Chief Asim Munir and Imran Khan
The people of Pakistan elect the government. Some things look beautiful only on paper pages. One such thing is that there is democracy in Pakistan. Of course there are elections here. But the center of power is the army. There is a custom here since decades. The government of the army and the army of the government. The meaning is simple that no matter who becomes the PM, he will have to obey the army. Hardly anyone would have thought before 2011 that the flamboyant Imran, who made Pakistan the world champion of cricket for the first time, would become a strong name in Pakistan’s politics. It is said that the entire game to bring Imran Khan to power was hatched by the Pakistan Army. But for the last 10 days, how has the same army been running behind him. To understand this, you have to turn to a little history.
The High Court has stayed the arrest of Imran Khan. Otherwise he would still be behind the bars. Action has to be taken against them under the Army Act. Case has been registered. For the last 10 days, arson and tension were witnessed at various places in Pakistan. As soon as Imran Khan was arrested, his supporters attacked the army headquarters in Rawalpindi. On May 9, Imran Khan announced that he would neither be afraid of the army nor would he leave the country. Saying this, he had reached the court. Only four hours after this, one day Imran Khan was arrested by NAB (Pakistan Corruption Investigation Agency) by breaking glass like a film scene.
First army liked Imran’s attitude
In the beginning, the Pakistan Army first liked Imran Khan’s attitude. Imran Khan was already ahead in terms of popularity. After this the anti-India statements left no stone unturned. Then what was the work of Pakistan Army became easier. Nawaz Sharif’s government fell, Imran Khan himself became the Prime Minister. General Bajwa got full cooperation in this. But today the same army is behind Imran Khan. The world has seen the picture of burning of Pakistan in the past. PTI supporters did not even spare the army headquarters. There was also arson in the airbase. Shahbaz Sharif knows one thing that if elections are held again, Imran Khan will win easily. But now the army does not want to let him return to power under any circumstances. There are reasons behind this.
World famous friendship Imran-Bajwa pair
In the history of Pakistan, Imran Khan has become the first such PM who has directly fought with the army. Imran Khan had made it clear that the job of the army is only to protect the country. He should stay away from politics. But this was unacceptable to the army. Let’s turn to a little history. Imran and Bajwa’s friendship was world famous, then suddenly both of them crossed all limits to remove so much enmity. Imran even had to lose his chair in this affair. After this, both of them made so many allegations against each other that it is not counted. Imran Khan even expressed the apprehension of his own murder. He said that the army wanted to kill him.
Army and Imran’s fight starts from here
Imran and Bajwa or should we say that Imran vs Pak Army begins with Punjab province’s Wazir Usman Buzdar. Bajwa wanted to oust him from power at any cost. But Imran was not ready for this at all. Umar Cheema is an investigative journalist from Pakistan. He has a video. Who had made many revelations about this. He had said that Pakistan’s then Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa requested Imran Khan again. He said that Mr. Usman Bujdar should be removed. Imran Khan again said no. This was the root of the conflict between the army and Imran Khan.
Imran fighting directly with the army
Another big reason is visible here. The Pakistani army thought that they would get Imran to agree to whatever they wanted, but here they will be proved wrong. Imran wanted General Faiz Hameed to remain the director of ISI. But the army did not want this at all. The army said that Faiz Hameed should take command of the corps in Peshawar. This was also the second reason for Imran vs Bajwa. These two big reasons are understandable for the tension between Imran Khan and the army. When Imran Khan came to power, Bilawal Bhutto did not call him ‘elected’ but ‘selected’.
Army’s biggest ‘enemy’ Imran Khan
In today’s date, the biggest enemies of Imran Khan are Army and ISI. When he became PM in 2018, the atmosphere was different. If he had not taken decisions against the army, Imran might have been the PM today. Pak Army Chief Asim Munir does not want to leave Imran Khan at any cost. The way PTI supporters attacked army bases, this thing has sunk into their chest. The grudge with the rest of the army is old. Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum is the ISI Chief. They are also against Imran Khan. The same Anjum whose history is stained with bloodshed in Balochistan.
