    Former First Lady of America Rosalynn Carter dies at the age of 96

    Rosalynn Carter, the former First Lady of America and wife of former President Jimmy Carter, died on Sunday in the southern state of Georgia at the age of 96. Jimmy Carter was best known for her work after the White House, as she and her husband advocated for human rights, democracy, and health issues around the world while maintaining a modest public image.

    Rosalynn Carter, a passionate champion of mental health, care and women’s rights, died Sunday at the age of 96 at her home in Plains, Georgia, the Carter Center said in a statement. Jimmy Carter said in the statement that ‘Roslyn was my equal partner in whatever I achieved. The former Democratic President said that I always knew that someone in the world loved me and supported me.

    Jimmy Carter’s long political career

    During Jimmy Carter’s long political career, his wife was at the center of his campaigns. Once in the White House (from 1977 to 1981), Rosalynn Carter emerged as First Lady with the intention of becoming involved in policy. He attended Cabinet meetings and major briefings, often representing the Chief Executive and acting as President on several occasions.

    Father’s death at the age of 13

    According to the White House website, Rosalynn Carter’s father died when she was 13, and she worked with her mother, who became a dressmaker, to support the household. She met Jimmy Carter in 1945 while she was in college and he was on leave from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis. They got married in 1946.

    Carter has recorded many records in American politics. The longest-married presidential couple and, at 99, Jimmy Carter, the oldest living US president. According to the Carter Center, the former first lady has four children. After losing a grandson in 2015, there are 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

    “In addition to being a loving mother and extraordinary woman, my mother was a great humanitarian in her own right,” the Carters’ son Chip Carter said in a statement at the center. He will be greatly missed not only by our family but also by the many people who have access to better mental health care and resources today.
