Demonstration on Armistice Day
A representative of the London Metropolitan Police told CNN that the protest, which took place on Armistice Day, was expected to draw 300,000 spectators. According to the police, 82 Jewish supporters were arrested to prevent disturbance of the peace.
According to CNN report, during the event, Palestine supporters claimed that they faced aggression from protesters opposing the rally. A pro-Palestine protester told CNN she was shocked at the “hypocrisy” of people who support Ukraine but not Palestine.
PM Sunak expressed displeasure
The protestor said, some politicians may be in our favor, but they are very afraid to speak. Hitting out at the violence at pro-Palestinian rallies in Britain on Armistice Day, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Saturday said all criminal cases should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and swiftly.
Calling the incident unacceptable, PM Sunak condemned the violence, saying the fear and intimidation felt by the Jewish community over the weekend was condemnable. I completely condemn the violence seen today by the EDL and associated groups and by Hamas supporters taking part in the March for Palestine. The hateful actions of minorities undermine those who have chosen to express their views peacefully.
