The weight of 16-year-old Kaylee alias Kayla Titfort was 146 kg at the time of death. When the accused father was asked about the incident, he told the investigating agency and the court, “I am a lazy person..and had considered myself completely unable to help my heavy daughter Kayla. Still I have not killed the daughter. She herself died lying on the bed. I am not guilty of murder. However, the court ignored every argument of the accused father and sentenced him to jail. This heinous incident was investigated by the London Police.
The police told the court that the girl was suffering from a serious disease called Spina Bifida. In this disease, the problem arises due to the closure of the spinal column. This disease is born in the child during the conception period of the mother. Due to which many different types of deformities arise in the baby, due to this serious illness, the victim used to use a wheelchair sometimes to go out of the house. The scandal came to light when the officers and employees of the Emergency Service of Britain (London) reached the spot on 10 October 2020.
The court hearing the case was told that Kaylia had attended a function organized at Newtown High School a few months before her death. Where he made the employees and other people laugh a lot that day. After that, in March 2020, the world was surrounded by Corona, due to which no one saw Kayli alive in the world. Only later did the news of his painful death come. The Titford couple had six children, including the unlucky Kayla. Caroline Rees Casey, prosecuting, asked Titford: Why couldn’t she get away from the bed? Accused father Alun Titford said that it is wrong that his daughter could not get up from the bed.
He saw daughter Kayla in a wheelchair one day in the kitchen. After that he never saw her away from the bed. The court was also told that till a few days before her death, Kaylia’s physiotherapy and dietetics services were also stopped by the family. He was last seen in the year 2017 by a social worker inside the house. Judge Justice Griffiths said that there can be no doubt that this case passes the threshold of custody. Inspector Jonathan Rees, who led the team investigating the incident, said: “The circumstances of Kaylia’s death were tragic. Due to gross negligence of the parents, the girl died a painful death. The sentence in this case was pronounced in the Crown Court on 1 March 2023 i.e. Wednesday.
