The government is taking more steps to curb online fraud.
To get rid of problems like mobile theft and fake SIM, the government has launched ‘Sanchar Sathi’ portal. On its launch, the IT minister told that the company has talked to stop forgery from WhatsApp. WhatsApp has agreed to block such numbers from which fraud is done.

According to Ashwini Vaishnav, apart from WhatsApp, talks are also going on with other social media platforms like Telegram. He said that we talked with WhatsApp and we believed that the safety of customers is most important. That’s why the number used to cheat people should be closed.

Government’s weapon (ASTR) tightened its grip
Through AI and Facial Recognition Powered Solution (ASTR), the government is taking action against the people doing SIM fraud. According to the IT minister, 40 lakh fraud SIM connections have been detected under ASTR. Of these, 36 lakh connections have been blocked, while several lakh WhatsApp accounts have also been closed.
