The world’s largest search engine Google artificial intelligence (AI) is exploring new possibilities in the field of The American tech firm is trying to revolutionize the healthcare sector through AI. Till now we see that there are many types of methods to detect diseases. medical test are done. Among these, tests like X-ray, MRI and CT-scan are quite common. However, under the leadership of CEO Sundar Pichai, Google is working on technology to detect diseases from the eyes.
In the health-tech industry, the capacity to identify diseases is being developed through artificial intelligence. Google AI is working on detecting heart related diseases by scanning the eyes. If this happens, we will have a fast and accurate way of detecting serious diseases. This is bound to pose a big threat to traditional medical tests like X-ray, MRI and CT-scan.
Google and Arvind Eye Hospital came together
To work on this project, Google has joined hands with India’s famous eye care chain Arvind Eye Hospital. Together they are working on the detection of diabetic retinopathy through AI. Eyes become weak due to diabetes, in severe cases eyesight also goes away. The damage caused to the eyes by diabetes is called diabetic retinopathy.
Disease will be detected by scanning retina
Developed algorithms to detect signs of blindness. It will be detected by using the photo of the retina of the patient. Apart from this, a lot can be done for the identification and management of eye diseases. Earlier, Google has also introduced an algorithm to predict the five-year risk of heart attack on the basis of gender and smoking.
The Google team wants the AI model to actually be converted into an Automated Retinal Disease Assessment (ARDA) device. Let us see how the team is working on this technology.
- More than 50 eye doctors have reviewed over 1 million retinal scans.
- Each scan was reviewed several times, and graded from 1 (no signs of diabetic retinopathy) to 5 (severe signs of diabetic retinopathy)
- Retina grade images fed into image recognition algorithms.
- With this, the AI model started understanding the symptoms of diabetic retinopathy like eye doctors.
- Instantly analyze diabetic retinopathy by uploading retinal scans to ARDA
In this way serious eye diseases including cancer can be detected by scanning the retina.
Google Lens: Skin problem will be easily detected
Google has gone a step further in terms of using AI in the healthcare sector. The search engine company will detect your skin related diseases through Google lens. Google informed in the blog that Google lens can be used for many purposes. You can detect skin disease by scanning the rash or mole.
It can also work for people who cannot accurately identify hair loss or bumps on the skin of the lips. It is very difficult to correctly identify the stain or mole on the skin. However, the analysis of the skin can be done through the lens. All you have to do is take a photo of the skin stain or mole and upload it to Google Lens. After this you will see the result.
