CCPA Central Consumer Protection Authority has taken action against top e-commerce platforms for selling car seat belt alarm stopper clips. In this amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, Snapdeal And ShopClues Are included. These products are being sold on these platforms against the Consumer Protection Act 2019. These e-commerce platforms removed this product
After this, 13,118 car seat belt alarm stopper clips have been removed from five e-commerce platforms. According to reports, Amazon has removed 8,095 car seat belt alarm stopper clips, Flipkart 4,000-5,000, Meesho 21 and Snapdeal and ShopClues have also removed all seat belt alarm stopper clips one by one.
These clips were being sold under the guise of some other product
During the course of action, it was found that some sellers were selling clips in the guise of products like bottle openers or cigarette lighters. According to reports, the use of car seat belt alarm stopper clips can also become a deterrent for consumers to claim amounts in motor insurance policy cases wherein the insurance company may deny the claim citing negligence of the claimant for using such clips. At present, the action focuses on the fact that according to the report published by MoRTH, more than 16,000 people have been killed in road accidents in 2021 due to not wearing seat belts, of which 8,438 were drivers and the rest 7,959 were passengers.
