Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been accused of sexual harassment.
New Delhi: All the officials of the Wrestling Federation of India, which is facing the heat of the wrestlers’ performance, have been stopped from their work. Indian Olympic Association has ordered the current officials not to participate in any kind of decisions or activities just before the elections of the Federation. A few days back, the IOA had formed an ad-hoc committee to look after the day-to-day work of the federation and conduct the upcoming elections, which will currently look after the responsibilities of the federation.
For the first time in January 2023, the Olympic and World Championship medalist wrestlers of the country opened a front against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who was the President of the Wrestling Federation. It was only after this that the Sports Ministry and the Olympic Association constituted separate committees of inquiry. At that time, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was asked to stay away from the work of the Federation till the completion of the investigation. Since then he was away from the Federation.
IOA took action
However, last month, the wrestlers started protesting again demanding action against Brij Bhushan and only after that the Olympic Association formed an ad-hoc committee on the orders of the Sports Ministry. This committee was given the responsibility of handling the work and conducting elections.
Now the Olympic Association has written a letter to the Wrestling Federation, ordering that any official, including the general secretary, whose tenure is coming to an end, will not take part in any administrative or financial matters and the documents related to their work will be sent to the ad-hoc panel. hand over
That is, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was already crying but now the rest of the officers elected along with him will not be able to do any kind of work. The ad-hoc committee has been ordered to conduct elections in the federation within 45 days.

Indian wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik have accused Brijbhushan Sharan Singh of sexual exploitation of female wrestlers. Following his complaint and the order of the Supreme Court, Delhi Police had registered two FIRs against Brij Bhushan only last month. Recently, in one of these cases, the statement of a minor female wrestler was also recorded in front of the magistrate.
