The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Rohit Sharma cannot be given any assurance regarding his place in the T20 team.
Rohit Sharma T20 World Cup 2024: Speculations have already started regarding the selection of the Indian team for next year’s T20 World Cup. According to many media reports, Rohit Sharma will once again be seen commanding the Indian team in this mega event to be held in America and West Indies, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Rohit Sharma will not be included in the T20 team. No assurance can be given regarding location.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed the reports during the Women’s Premier League auction that no assurance can be given to Rohit regarding his selection in the T20 team. There is a feeling that Rohit should be made part of the squad for the ICC tournament from June 3-30 and some media reports suggest that the 36-year-old has sought clarity on his role in the T20 squad.
Amid speculation that Rohit Sharma has already been appointed Indian captain for the T20 World Cup to be held in June, Shah said, “What is the need for clarity now? It (T20 World Cup) is starting in June, before that we have IPL and Saris against Afghanistan. We will take a good decision.”
Rohit has not played any T20 match since the last T20 World Cup and recently in the absence of Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the captain of Team India for the three-match T20 series against South Africa.
