IND vs ENG Test: KL Rahul was included in the Indian team for the remaining three Test matches against England but just a day later, he was replaced by upcoming star Devdutt Padikkal for the third Test. Actually, KL Rahul has not been able to fully recover from his injury. According to a BCCI release, the batsman was on the road to recovery and was 90% fit and hence his name was not considered for the third Test.
Rahul has reached 90 per cent match fitness and is making good progress under the supervision of the BCCI medical team, the BCCI said in a press release. With the series tied at 1-1, Rahul will spend some more time at NCA Bengaluru and will likely return for the fourth and fifth Tests. Having said that, it has upset some people.
A senior BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity, “KL Rahul has not reported to Rajkot yet. Local Ravindra Jadeja has been added to the team. “It was always going to be a fitness issue and the BCCI medical team is still not confident that he is match fit.”
A senior BCCI official asked, “If the BCCI medical team already knew that Rahul’s quad injury was as serious as it appeared, then why was he included in the temporary team in the first place. Why is the player sending wrong signals by posting videos of his batting on Instagram Stories?”
