There have been some controversies in IPL that took place inside the field. Sometimes there was an argument between the players and sometimes there was an argument between the players and the umpires, but in the year 2012, such a controversy arose outside the field, which hurt the image of IPL a lot. All this happened because of Australian player Luke Pomarbach who was a part of Virat Kohli’s team Royal Challengers Bangalore at that time. (PTI)
Luke was accused of coercing a woman and assaulting a man in a hotel in Delhi. The 27-year-old player was booked under sections 354, 323 and 454 of the IPL. This one case had created a big controversy. (Luke Pomersbach Twitter)
Johal Hamid, a resident of America, accused Luke that RCB had defeated Delhi, after which she called Luke to her hotel room to party with her fiancé. It was here that Luke first misbehaved with Johal and then physically assaulted Johal’s fiancee due to which he had to be admitted to the hospital. (Luke Pomersbach Twitter)
Johal also alleged that IPL officials are pressurizing him to withdraw the case. Johal said that he is getting death threats. Luke was arrested by the Delhi Police and then he confessed to his crime. (Luke Pomersbach Twitter)
After Luke’s confession, Johal withdrew the case after mutual consent but this Australian player was dropped from RCB. After this controversy, many questions were raised on the parties held after the IPL match. (Luke Pomersbach Twitter)
