Kohli played his first match for India as an ODI against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. Kohli played this match on 18 August 2008. But after five matches, Kohli was dropped from Team India. He was trying to make a comeback. Then Kohli played an innings at the Eden Gardens Stadium which again brought him in the eyes of the selectors and boosted his own confidence. Kohli played that match for Mohun Bagan cricket team in P Sen Trophy in 2009. Kohli was 20 years old at that time and in this match he played an inning of 184 runs in 121 balls against Town Club. Kohli returned to Team India in September 2009 and then on the same ground in Kolkata, he scored the first century of his ODI international career.
Beginning of century journey
Kohli had scored this century against Sri Lanka on 24 December 2009. In this match, Kohli played an innings of 107 runs in 114 balls which included 11 fours and one six. Kohli is celebrating his 35th birthday. This captain, who made India win the Under-19 World Cup under his captaincy, has achieved that position in just the 16th year of his career, about which many players only dream. In a very short time, Kohli has broken many records of Sachin, has equaled many records and is about to equal many records. Just look at Sachin’s 49 ODI centuries. Sachin, who is called the God of Cricket, has scored 49 centuries in 462 ODI matches, whereas Kohli has scored 48 ODI centuries in 288 matches only. Sachin has 100 centuries in international cricket. If anyone can break this record of Sachin, it is only Kohli. Kohli has scored a total of 78 centuries so far including all three formats. He is 22 centuries away from Sachin’s record.
