Kohli is one step away from his 49th ODI century and the entire cricket world is waiting for him to achieve this milestone because with this Kohli will reach the level of his idol Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli played his first match for India as an ODI against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. Kohli played this match on 18 August 2008. But after five matches, Kohli was dropped from Team India. He was trying to make a comeback. Then Kohli played an innings at the Eden Gardens Stadium which again brought him in the eyes of the selectors and boosted his own confidence. Kohli played that match for Mohun Bagan cricket team in P Sen Trophy in 2009. Kohli was 20 years old at that time and in this match he played an inning of 184 runs in 121 balls against Town Club. Kohli returned to Team India in September 2009 and then on the same ground in Kolkata, he scored the first century of his ODI international career.

Kohli had scored this century against Sri Lanka on 24 December 2009. In this match, Kohli played an innings of 107 runs in 114 balls which included 11 fours and one six. From here onwards Kohli did not look back and continued moving forward. Kohli, who started his century journey from Kolkata, today stands very close to equaling his idol on this very ground. There are many coincidences associated with Kohli in this match. Now it has to be seen whether this ground proves to be historic once again in Kohli’s life or not.
