New Delhi: To change the fortunes of the West Indies cricket team, which is going through a bad phase, the country’s cricket board has taken a big decision. The team’s dressing room will once again see two-time World Cup winning captain Darren Sammy. Sammy will be in a changed role this time. Cricket West Indies has appointed Sammy as the head coach of the ODI and T20 team. It was under Sammy’s captaincy that the team won the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2014.
Sammy’s first event with the team will be the three-match ODI series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which will be played in Sharjah. Cricket West Indies has given information about this by issuing a statement.

Separate coach for test team
The responsibility of the ODI and T20 team has come under the responsibility of Sammy, while former wicketkeeper-batsman Andre Cole has been appointed as the head of the Test team. He will start his coaching contract with the West Indies from the two-match Test series against India in July. Sammy and Andre both have coaching experience. Sammy has coached in the Pakistan Super League. Apart from this, he has also coached in the Caribbean Premier League.
On the other hand, Jamaica’s Andre has coached at every level in the West Indies. He had earlier gone on the tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa as the assistant coach of the team. He was also the head coach of the West Indies Cricket Academy. Sammy said that he is ready for this challenge and will work in the team with the same approach as he used to captain.

was eliminated from the first round
West Indies have been weak in Tests and ODIs for a long time but T20 was such a format where this team was feared. This country has given one of the most dangerous T20 cricketers in the world, but in the T20 World Cup played in Australia last year, this team was already eliminated in the first round. After this, Nicholas Pooran had decided to leave the captaincy.
There was a change in the captaincy of the team recently. Shai Hope was appointed as the captain of the ODI team and Rovman Powell was given the captaincy of the T20 team. The fans of West Indies will hope that Sammy will give the team the same success that he got as captain.
