The future of Indian players is under threat
In the last few years, the players of India have shown great performance in every major tournament. Be it Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games or Asia Games. The dominance of Indian players has been seen everywhere. However, at present, the future of these players is under threat. If the Indian Olympic Association does not fulfill the conditions of the International Olympic Committee in the coming time, then it can be banned.
IOC threatens IOA
The IOC on Wednesday gave a final warning to the Indian Olympic Association that it could face a ban if it does not organize the elections at the earliest. The IOC has given time till December 2022 to the Indian Association. If this does not happen by then, a decision on the ban will be taken in the executive board meeting to be held next year. If the IOA is banned, then Indian players will not be able to play under their tricolor in any tournament.
IOC gave responsibility to Rajeev Mehta
In July this year, IOA President and IOC member Narindra Batra resigned from both his posts. After this, Anil Khanna was made the interim president. However, the IOC has refused to recognize an interim president or acting president and has delegated all the responsibilities to Secretary General Rajeev Mehta. In this regard, the IOC has also held a meeting with the IOA in Lausanne on 27 September. This is not the first time that the IOA could be banned. Earlier, the IOA has been banned in 2012-13 as well.
AIFF was banned
Before the IOA, India FIFA had banned the Football Association of India. The IAFF was banned because of third party interference. At that time the CoA was looking after the work of AIFF. The ban was lifted after the Supreme Court dissolved the Committee of Administrators (COA) that governed the AIFF. The Supreme Court has also extended the date for the All India Football Federation elections to be held on August 28.
