Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad has started planning for the next season and has taken a big decision in this sequence. Sunrisers have removed their coach Tom Moody of Australia from the post of head coach. This was Moody’s second stint with this team which has now come to an end. Both have jointly decided to terminate this agreement. The website ESPNcricinfo has written in its report that both have decided not to extend the agreement by consensus.
Moody has recently been appointed as the Director of Desert Vipers in ILT20. This T20 league of UAE is starting from January 2023. Moody was reunited with Sunrisers in 2021. At that time, Sunrisers had removed Trevor Bayliss from Moody’s country as coach. After this he was made the head coach of the team. Moody’s first stint with the team was from 2013 to 2019, during which the team won the title in 2016.
This giant is in the race
After Moody’s departure, the question now is who will replace him. In this race, the name of Brian Lara, one of the greatest batsmen of all time, is leading the way. Lara was appointed by the team as its batting coach and strategizing advisor before IPL-2022. Lara is a former West Indies captain. He has a lot of experience which he can give to the team.
The last two seasons have been disappointing
The last two seasons have been disappointing for Sunrisers. The team could not do well in 2021 and that is why it changed its captain in the middle of the season. Kane Williamson was made captain after replacing David Warner. Even under Williamson’s captaincy, however, the team could not do much and in the last season i.e. IPL 2022 also, it had missed out on a place in the playoffs.
