Sunil Gavaskar, the former captain of the Indian Cricket Team, is celebrating his 74th birthday (Happy Birthday Sunil Gavaskar) today i.e. on July 10, 2023. Gavaskar, who is called ‘Little Master’, has also been a part of the winning team in the year 1983 World Cup. Although Gavaskar has made many amazing records in his cricketing era. Some of these records are unbreakable even today, which even legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have not been able to break. Let us tell you that India got a great player like Sunil Gavaskar in the year 1971. Actually, Sunil made his Test debut in the year 1971 against the West Indies. However, since then Sunil Gavaskar has consistently performed brilliantly and carried India’s name forward in cricket. Apart from this, Gavaskar became such a great player that after his retirement, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was organized in his name between India and Australia. Unbreakable records of Sunil Gavaskar
- Sunil Gavaskar scored 774 runs in his debut series against the West Indies in Test cricket and had the highest number of runs in a debut series by any player, which has remained unbroken for 52 years. Till date no batsman has been able to do this.
- The Little Master also holds the record for scoring the most runs against the West Indies. He has scored 2749 runs and 13 centuries against the team.
- The legendary player was the first to touch the 10000 thousand mark in Test cricket and was the first batsman to do so.
- Apart from this, Gavaskar has scored 4 consecutive centuries at Port of Spain and Wankhede stadiums and is the only batsman to do so.
- On the other hand, Gavaskar has a very amazing record. Gavaskar has shared century partnerships in Tests 58 times with 18 different players.
- Sunil Gavaskar has scored three centuries in both innings of Tests and was the first player to do so.
- Whereas Gavaskar was the first cricketer to take 100 catches in Test cricket.
- Gavaskar remained unbeaten from the start to the end of the innings and became the first Indian player to do so. He is followed by Rahul Dravid and Pujara.
- Sunil also broke Sir Don Bradman’s record of 29 centuries in the year 1983. Gavaskar has 34 centuries in Test cricket.
