The Indian cricket team could not win the title of ODI World Cup-2023. This team captained by Rohit Sharma was defeated by Australia by six wickets in the final. India had a chance to win the title after 12 years but Team India failed in the title match played on 19 November at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After this defeat, every member of the team is disappointed. Australia has given the same wound to India which it got 20 years ago. In 2003, the Indian team had to face defeat from Australia in the final of the ODI World Cup. Indian opener Shubman Gill is in a lot of pain after the defeat of 2023, but this batsman has now taken an oath.
This was Gill’s first ODI World Cup. Gill impressed a lot with his batting in this tournament. However, his bat did not work in the final. Gill was out after scoring four runs in the title match. He was dismissed by Mitchell Starc.
Wrote emotional post
It is difficult for Gill to digest the final defeat but there is a fire burning inside him. He has written a post on Instagram and in this post he has said that he will not give up until he wins the World Cup. Gill wrote that it has been 16 hours and still last night’s defeat is hurting him a lot. He wrote that sometimes even giving everything is not enough. Gill wrote that this was a milestone in his journey. He thanked the fans of Team India for their support. At the end of this post, Gill wrote that this is not the end and it will not end until he wins the World Cup.
Gill’s performance
Gill, who was playing his first ODI World Cup, could not play the first two matches because he was suffering from dengue. He made a comeback after this. Gill played a total of nine matches in this tournament in which he scored 354 runs at an average of 44.25. During this period, four half-centuries came from his bat. Gill came close to scoring a century in the semi-final match but then he got cramps and had to leave the field. Later he returned but he did not have a chance to score a century because the Indian innings was towards the end.
