Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul doubtful to play in Asia Cup 2023

Many senior players of the Indian cricket team are running injured these days. KL Rahul, who suffered a hamstring injury in May, is said to be very unlikely to be fit for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. At the same time, the name of middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer is also included in the injured list of Indian players, who recently underwent back surgery and is also doubtful to play in the Asia Cup.

Both the players missed out on being a part of IPL 2023. While Iyer did not play in the entire tournament, KL Rahul suffered an injury during an IPL match and has been out of action since then. Both the players have undergone their respective surgeries and are gearing up to get fit for the Asia Cup. If these two players do not play in the upcoming Asia Cup, then the team will definitely miss them.

In all likelihood, both the players are unlikely to find a place in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2023. KL Rahul is currently at NCA in Bengaluru and his rehab is on. As for Shreyas Iyer, who has undergone surgery for a stress fracture in his back, he is also working hard to recover. Not much has been revealed about Iyer’s recovery.
