hobartFormer Australia pacer Jason Gillespie has asked England pacer Ollie Robinson to focus on fitness to bowl all day in Test cricket. Gillespie wrote in the Daily Mail, “He can make good use of the crease taking advantage of his length and trouble the batsmen with his bowling. But England need a bowler who, apart from bowling the opening spell, can go all day.” to bowl.”
Gillespie’s remarks came after England’s bowling coach John Lewis confirmed that Robinson had suffered an injury on the first day of the Hobart Test, due to which he had not bowled in the previous two seasons.
Lewis also suggested that Robinson should work harder to maintain the fitness level required in Test cricket.
Gillespie, who played 71 Tests for Australia, said, “England bowling coach John Lewis addressed the media on Friday that he is leaving no stone unturned in his work. He said that we have given Ollie a chance and again and again Said he needs to focus on his fitness.”
Gillespie criticized Robinson for his drop in pace after every bowling spell in the ongoing Ashes, despite playing one match more than Stuart Broad.
