Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bat first. Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway together added 141 runs for the first wicket. Gaikwad batted carefully at first, but once he got his eye, he easily hit big sixes on every bowler. Rituraj hit 7 sixes and 3 fours in his innings of 79 runs.
