First bowling wreaked havoc
Although the evening of Friday, May 12 in IPL 2023 was named after Suryakumar Yadav, but Rashid also left no stone unturned in robbing the party. If he had got a little support, he would have spoiled the party of Suryakumar’s century at the Wankhede Stadium. Rashid started it with his ‘killer spin’.

Rashid took the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in a single over. Then bowled Nehal Wadhera in the next over. Even in his last over, he made Tim David his victim. Mumbai scored 218 runs but in that Rashid got 4 wickets by spending only 29 runs.

Shook Mumbai in 32 balls
Along with bowling, Rashid was showing his prowess in fielding as well. The real panic was created by Rashid with his batting. His entry was at number 8. Then the score was only 100 runs and 6 wickets had fallen. Two more wickets fell in the next three runs. Only 40 balls were left and 116 runs were needed in front. That is almost impossible.
Defeat was certain but Rashid Khan is a courageous player and does not give up easily at any cost. Saw proof of this in the spectators at Wankhede. The bowlers who destroyed Gujarat’s batting, Rashid thrashed them badly. He completed his first half-century in just 21 balls and rained sixes.

The situation was such that despite the victory being confirmed, wrinkles started appearing on the face of Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma. His attack started from the 14th over and continued till the last ball. In the last over too, Rashid hit three sixes. Eventually the overs were over, but Rashid returned unbeaten after scoring 79 runs (32 balls). He hit 10 sixes, hit 3 fours.
Some special milestones were also named
Certain milestones were bound to be touched by such an innings. Rashid also did the same. This was only the third time in the IPL when a batsman coming after number four hit 10 sixes in an innings. Before him only Andre Russell (11 sixes) and Kieron Pollard (10 sixes) had done this feat. Incidentally Friday was also Pollard’s birthday. Not only this, this was the seventh time in the IPL, when a player took 4 wickets and also scored a half-century.
