Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa fought hard but lost to world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen in the Chess World Cup final.
Praggnanandhaa vs Carlsen FIDE Chess World Cup 2023 Final: India’s R Praggnanandhaa has lost in the tie-breaker against world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen in the Chess World Cup final. The Indian Grandmaster fought hard but lost the first game in a tie-breaker. In the second game, he could not last long in front of Carlsen. With this defeat, India’s Pragyananda missed out on creating history. Pragyananda gave Carlsen a tough fight till the first tie-breaker but failed to find a counter to Carlsen’s moves in the second tie-breaker.
The winner of the tournament, Carlsen, will get $1,10,000, while the runner-up, Praggnanandha, will get $80,000. This is the first World Cup title for Carlsen, a five-time Chess World Championship winner.
