In this tournament, which ran from July 20 to August 6, Sherfane Rutherford gave a brilliant performance to his team Montreal Tigers in the final match.
Sherfane Rutherford was awarded Player of the Match, Moment of the Match and Player of the Series in the tournament held at TD Cricket Arena. During this, as the Player of the Series, he has been awarded half an acre of land in America. So far this is a unique award among leagues around the world. Generally, players are given money or some valuable item in the tournament. But for the first time in GL T20 its initiative has been taken.
Significantly, the final match of the tournament was played between Surrey Jaguars and Montreal Tigers. In which Sherfane Rutherford played an unbeaten inning of 38 runs in 29 balls. His innings came when the team needed it the most. Chasing the target, Montreal Tigers needed 25 runs from the last 12 balls of the final match. During this, Andre Russell also scored 20 runs in six balls. Due to which the Tigers got their first GT20 title. Rutherford has been adjudged Player of the Series for his exceptional performance throughout the tournament.
