IPL 2023- Nitish Rana fined 24 lakhs even after victory, know why
In IPL (IPL 2023), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 wickets in a thrilling match on Sunday. After this, the BCCI imposed a fine of Rs 24 lakh on Nitish Rana. All the players of KKR (who were included in the playing 11 of KKR in the match against CSK) were fined Rs 6 lakh each as match fee.
Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to bat first. Shivam Dubey’s unbeaten 48 helped the team reach 144. KKR had dropped their 3 wickets in the powerplay, after which the team was under pressure but Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana gave the team victory by playing half-centuries. KKR won by 6 wickets with 9 balls to spare.
Nitish Rana fined Rs 24 lakh
KKR could not complete the bowling ahead of time. After this, team captain Nitish Rana was also seen arguing with the umpire. After the match, Rs 24 lakh was deducted as fine from Nitish Rana’s fees due to being fined for slow speed. This was KKR’s second mistake, so the captain was fined Rs 24 lakh and the other players (who were part of KKR’s playing 11 in the match against CSK) were fined Rs 6 lakh each.
Slow over rate meaning ,: What is slow fine?
An hour and a half is considered sufficient for an innings to end in T20, so if it takes more than that, an extra fielder has to be placed inside the 30-yard line, which costs the bowling side dearly in the final overs. If such a mistake is made for the first time, then the captain is fined Rs 12 lakh. If such a mistake is made for the second time, then the fine is doubled on the captain i.e. 24 lakh rupees and along with all the other players, a fine of 6-6 lakhs is imposed. If such a mistake happens for the third time, then the captain is banned for one match.
