There were only two kits with which the whole team used to play. We used to exercise with our fellow players sitting on the back. Used to do weight training by lifting bricks. We didn’t even have gym facilities. We didn’t get money even after winning, only got the trophy. Due to lack of money, we got a chance to play international cricket after a long time.

Former cricketer Susan also told about the difficulties of those days. He said, ‘Our camps were held in Patiala where it was not easy for us to bear the cold. We used to get only two rotis and vegetables at a time. Many of us did not even have the money to buy two bananas. In such a situation, it was not easy to wake up at 5 in the morning and train. We didn’t have gyms, fitness trainers, or any other facility. He further told that he had to sit in the general compartment to play the match. 6-8 girls used to sit on one seat. We used to sleep with our belongings as beds.

Diana Edulji also shared her experiences. He told, ‘We did not even have the entire team to play in the tournament. While traveling, many times we used to sit near the toilet of the train. We used to sleep in the waiting room. We did not get hotels during the match. We used to get hostel dormitories in which 15-20 girls used to stay in one room. Due to lack of money, many women players could not go on foreign tours. We used to stay in the homes of Indian families on foreign tours. There was no hotel facility.
