The West Indies team failed to make it to the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup 2022. On Friday, Nicholas Pooran’s team came out to face Ireland, which was a do or die match for them. The two-time world champion failed to win here. This defeat broke the heart of the entire team as well as the captain Nicholas Pooran, who could not hold back his tears after the match. Pooran said that he has disappointed the team and the fans with his performance.
Pooran looked very emotional after the defeat. The rest of the team were seen explaining to him. When he was called for the match presentation, tears were clearly visible in his eyes. He said with a full throat, ‘This is a difficult time. We didn’t bat well throughout the tournament. If we score only 145 runs on a good pitch, it becomes difficult for our bowlers to save the match. It was a challenge for us from the very beginning.
Pooran gets emotional and praises his team
However, Pooran praised his star players. He said, ‘Ireland batted and bowled well, congratulations to them. Some good things happened for us too. Jason Holder is bowling again, King batted well, Joseph is also bowling for us. This is a lesson for us. We are quite disappointed. We have disappointed our fans. Of course we are sad. I disappointed my teammates with my performance. Pooran could only score 25 runs in three matches. He scored 5 against Scotland, 7 against Zimbabwe and 13 against Ireland. Apart from this, he also did not show his strength in bowling and he could take only one wicket.
West Indies out of T20 World Cup
West Indies team is the only team in the tournament to have won the T20 World Cup title twice. However, due to not being in the top 8 in the ICC rankings, West Indies did not get a direct entry in the Super 12. He had to play the group round where the team suffered a setback. In their very first match, they lost against West Indies by 42 runs.

The team then kept its hopes alive by defeating Zimbabwe in the next match. To go into the Super 12, it was very important that he beat Ireland on Friday. However, Ireland made a big upset and won a strong victory by nine wickets. Ireland are currently on top in Group B, winning two matches in three matches.
