Bangladesh cricket team defeated Netherlands by nine runs in the match played at Ballerive Oval Stadium in Hobart on Monday. With this Bangladesh started their ICC T20 World Cup-2022 campaign with a win. Batting first, Bangladesh had scored 144 runs for the loss of eight wickets. The team of Netherlands gave a tough fight to Bangladesh but they could not win. After playing the entire 20 overs, this team was bundled out for 135 runs.
For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took four wickets for 25 runs in his four overs. On the other hand, Colin Ackerman scored 62 runs for the Netherlands. In this innings, he faced 48 balls and hit two sixes in addition to six fours. No other batsman could support him.
Netherlands fought hard
Chasing the target of 145 runs, the Netherlands had lost their four wickets for just 15 runs at one time. But this team did not give up and continued the fight. Captain Scott Edwards supported Colin and took the team’s score beyond 50. He became a victim of Shakib Al Hasan after scoring 16 runs. By the time 101 came, the Netherlands had lost their nine wickets.
Colin had also returned to the pavilion here, but still the Netherlands did not let Bangladesh breathe a sigh of relief. Paul Van Meeckeren tried to score fast in the end and kept on winning the team but he could not accomplish the task. He scored 24 runs in 14 balls with the help of three fours and one six.
Bangladesh’s batting remained weak
Bangladesh may have won this match, but their batting was weak, which could not score big against a team considered weak like Netherlands. Not a single half-century could be scored by the Najmul team. Afif Hossain scored the most runs for Bangladesh. He scored 38 runs in 27 balls. In this innings, he hit two fours and two sixes. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 25 runs in 20 balls. Soumya Sarkar played an innings of 14 runs. Mausadek Hossain scored 20 runs. Nurul Hasan scored 13 runs.
