Mushfiqur Rahim will not play in the match against India, wife gives birth to daughter
Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday said that Mushfiqur Rahim will not play in the match against India (IND vs BAN) to spend time with his wife and newborn daughter. This happy occasion for Mushfiqur came on Monday when Mushfiqur’s wife Jannatul Kifayat gave birth to their precious daughter. Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper batsman revealed the secret of his happiness through a post on social media.
Bangladesh are already out of contention for the final to be held on September 17 after India defeated Sri Lanka by 41 runs in Colombo on Tuesday. India has proved before the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 that it is going to perform well. Mushfiqur had returned to Bangladesh for the birth of his second child, born on Monday. Initially he was expected to rejoin the team for the match against India in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. But Bangladesh Cricket Board said, he will now stay in Dhaka and will not play the match against India.
The caption of the post by Mushfiqur Rahim reads, “Assalamualaikum to all, Alhamdulillah Almighty Allah has blessed us with a baby girl. Both mother and child are under observation. Please please pray for us.” As soon as Mushfiqur Rahim came to know about this news, he returned home on 9 September to support his wife.
India had performed well and won against Sri Lanka in its last match. In this match, India won the toss and batted first and scored 213 runs at the loss of 10 wickets. In reply, Sri Lanka, which came to chase this target, could score only 172 runs at the loss of 10 wickets and thus India won and made it to the final of Asia Cup 2023.
