New Delhi, Chennai Super Kings won the IPL-2023 title under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. This season Dhoni was seen in his colors in batting. But Dhoni was troubled by his knee injury. Even after this, Dhoni did not miss a single match. Now Kashi Vishwanathan, CEO of the Chennai franchise has made a big disclosure about him. Vishwanathan has told that during the IPL, he never asked Dhoni to play the match. Apart from this, Vishwanathan has given a big update on Dhoni playing in the next season.
Vishwanathan said that he knew that if Dhoni was not fit, he would have told the team beforehand. Dhoni had his knee surgery done immediately after the IPL. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, Chennai defeated Gujarat Titans in the final and won the IPL title for the fifth time.

‘We never asked’
Talking to the website ESPNcricinfo, Vishwanathan said that he never asked Dhoni whether he wanted to play or not. He said that if Dhoni could not play, he would have directly come and told him that he does not want to play. Vishwanathan said that we knew that he was struggling but he was respected for his commitment to the team, his leadership, his passion and attitude towards the team.

Vishwanathan said that Dhoni did not make any complaint till the final. The CEO of Chennai said that after the final, Dhoni said that he would undergo surgery and he was very happy after undergoing the surgery.

Will Dhoni play the next IPL?
Vishwanathan told that Dhoni talked to him about playing further. Vishwanathan said that he had met Dhoni after Rituraj Gaikwad’s wedding in Mumbai and then Dhoni said that he would rest for three weeks and then start rehab. During this, Dhoni told that he will not play till January-February. Vishwanathan said that Dhoni knows what he has to do and he will not ask him what he wants to do.
