The dream of crores of Indian cricket fans has been shattered. Team India has lost to Australia in the final of the World Cup-2023. Australia defeated the Indian team by 6 wickets in the match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Team India had a chance to win the World Cup after 12 years, but it missed it. Australia has won the World Cup trophy for the sixth time.
Talking about the match, Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bowl first. When invited to bat first, Team India scored 240 runs in 50 overs. Australia achieved the target of 241 runs by losing 4 wickets in 43 overs. Travis Head played a century for Australia. He scored 137 runs. Marnus Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 58 and Glenn Maxwell remained unbeaten on 2 runs.

Team India was unbeaten in the entire tournament. She reached the finals by winning all 10 matches. At the same time, this is Australia’s 9th consecutive victory in this tournament. Australia first captured the World Cup trophy in 1987. After this she also became champion in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015.

While chasing the target, Australia lost the wickets of David Warner (07), Mitchell Marsh (15) and Steve Smith (04). For India, Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets, Shami and Siraj took 1 wicket each. Earlier, despite half-centuries from Lokesh Rahul (66 runs in 107 balls, one four) and Virat Kohli (54 runs in 63 balls, four fours) and a 67-run partnership for the fourth wicket between them, India scored 240 runs in 50 overs. But it was limited.
Captain Rohit Sharma (47) started the innings and played a quick innings. Starc was the most successful bowler for Australia, taking 55 runs and three wickets. Captain Pat Cummins (two wickets for 34 runs) and Josh Hazlewood (two wickets for 60 runs) also took two wickets each. Mitchell Marsh (15) hit a six on Shami but Jasprit Bumrah got him caught by wicketkeeper Rahul. Bumrah also LBW Steve Smith (04) in his next over. Opener Travis Head, however, held one end. He hit two consecutive fours on Shami due to which Australia scored 60 runs for three wickets in 10 overs.
