The Chennai ground has not been very beneficial for Suryakumar Yadav.
New Delhi: The first finalist of IPL 2023 has been decided. Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, has reached the final for a record 10th time. Who will he face now, it will be decided in the next two matches. Out of this, the eliminator match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants today. It is believed that Mumbai will win this match due to its strong batting but it is not that easy. Especially for his star batsman Suryakumar Yadav.
The beginning of this season was not good at all for Suryakumar Yadav and he could not get runs from his bat in the initial matches. Surya’s absence was also one of the reasons for Mumbai’s poor performance. Then as Surya’s heat started increasing, Mumbai’s winning streak also started. Result- The team reached the playoffs.
Sun does not shine in Chepauk
Now the question is whether Suryakumar Yadav will be seen in the playoffs as well? By the way, he has showered a lot of runs in the last few innings. Has scored half-centuries and centuries but the playoff is not going to be easy for him. The reason for this is the venue where this match is to be played. Like the first qualifier, this eliminator match will also be played at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
Suryakumar Yadav’s record at Chepauk Stadium is not the same as it is at other stadiums, especially Wankhede. Surya has scored 274 runs in 8 innings of IPL in Chepauk, in which his average is 38 but the strike rate is only 127.

Surya troubled in front of spinners
It is not just that. Everyone knows that Chepauk’s conditions are helpful to spinners, but we also know that Surya bats amazingly against spinners. It just doesn’t happen in Chepauk. Statistics show that Surya has scored 135 runs in front of spinners in Chepauk but the strike rate is only 107. In that too he has been dismissed 3 times.
Now Lucknow may have a good chance to control Mumbai on the basis of their spinners. For this, Captain Krunal Pandya himself will have to take responsibility, who is a left-arm spinner. He will have to do something similar to what Ravindra Jadeja did against Gujarat Titans. Along with this, spinners like Ravi Bishnoi, Krishnappa Gautam will also have to be supported.
