‘Lived up to expectations…’ Before World Cup 2023, Kapil Dev said this about Team India
The International Cricket Council i.e. ICC has announced the date of ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India and has also released the schedule (World Cup 2023 Schedule). Whereas World Cup 2023 is to be played at 10 different places in India and it will be played from 5th October to 19th November. Meanwhile, about two months ago, former cricketer Kapil Dev has said a big thing about Team India.
Speaking at the launch of the Golf Fitting Center at the Karnataka Golf Association, Kapil Dev said, “I don’t know how it will happen. India will always go into any tournament as favourites, as it has been for a long time. It is all about how the team lives up to the expectations of all stakeholders. We have won the World Cup at home and I am sure the team, whichever is selected, can do it again. The World Cup is coming in four years and I hope the players are fully prepared.”
He further said that “My time was different as we played very less cricket. Now these players have been playing cricket for about 10 months. Hence, it is important to manage your body to stay away from injuries. Everyone’s body is different and they will need different plans to maintain their fitness.
On the other hand, Kapil Dev said about Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah that considering the amount of cricket players are busy in this era, attention should be paid to workload and injury management. Although Bumrah has been away from cricket for almost a year and doubts still remain over his fitness. However, BCCI has given an update that Bumrah can be fit till the World Cup.
