KL Rahul to return in Asia Cup 2023, Shreyas Iyer doubtful to play in World Cup
Asia Cup 2023 is still two months away and KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are on the road to recovery. But both these players of Team India are not fully fit yet. But the BCCI is eyeing the pair’s comeback in the Asia Cup. At the same time, it is expected that KL Rahul will soon return to Team India while Shreyas Iyer’s playing in the World Cup 2023 is doubtful.
The BCCI medical team is concerned that Iyer may not be fit for the World Cup, which is why Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson are set to play in the ODIs. Significantly, Iyer underwent back surgery after missing the IPL and WTC finals. However, he still complains of back pain.
A senior BCCI official told InsideSport, “Rahul’s recovery is going well. He will be fit in about a month. Coming back from surgery is always difficult and he is a very important player for the World Cup. Iyer’s progress is slow but we are still hopeful that he will be fine by the World Cup. But at this point of time, it is not certain with Iyer.”
