New Delhi: The England team may have lost in the first Test of the Ashes series, but there is good news for Joe Root from the ICC. Joe Root has now become the number one batsman in the new ICC Test rankings. He has received this award because of the century he scored in the first Test of the Ashes. At the same time, Australian batsmen Steve Smith, Marnus Labushen and Travis Head had to pay the price for their failure.
Marnus Labushen’s reign has been snatched from him in the latest ICC rankings. Joe Root of England is now the new number one. Labushen has slipped and rolled to third place. On the other hand, Kane Williamson of New Zealand has got the second place. Steve Smith was at number two in last week’s rankings. But this week he has slipped to the sixth position.
