BCCI released a video of him on Saturday. In which he expressed his feelings after being elected captain. In the video, he is saying that since childhood, he had seen on TV how an athlete would stand on the podium after winning a medal. He said that this moment will be special not only for me but for every player who is a part of the squad.

Rituraj Gaikwad said that “I am grateful to the BCCI and the team management for this opportunity. Playing for India is a matter of pride in itself. It is a great opportunity for me to lead the team in such a big event. I am feeling proud and looking forward to move forward.”

Regarding his squad, he said that “It is going to be a great experience to represent the country together. For the last one or two years, we have been playing IPL and other tournaments together. Now being a part of these games together will be a lot of fun too.” They said that “We will definitely win medals. Representing the country in sports like the Asian Games and winning medals, we have always seen on TV. How an athlete stands on the podium after winning a medal. Seeing myself being a part of it and going out there and winning a medal is a very special thing for me. Indian fans have always supported, be it in any series or match. But this game is special. We will play good cricket. Bringing home the gold, standing on the podium and singing the country’s national anthem would be a dream come true.”
