Gujarat missed out on winning the title for the second time in a row (PC: PTI)
New Delhi. MS Dhoni broke the dream of Hardik Pandya and his Gujarat Titans. Pandya’s eyes were on becoming the IPL champion for the second time in a row, but Dhoni’s fanatics stopped him from doing so. In the final of IPL 2023, Gujarat had to face defeat by 5 wickets at the hands of Chennai.
Gujarat Titans could not become the champion, but after the match it was showered with awards. Two players from Gujarat got the two biggest awards of this season. It was the Gujarat players who scored the most runs and took the most wickets in the season.

- Purple Cap: Purple cap adorned on the head of Gujarat’s star bowler Mohammed Shami. He took a total of 28 wickets in 17 matches.
- Emerging Player: Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young batsman of Rajasthan Royals, has been selected as the Emerging Player. He scored a total of 625 runs in 14 matches this season including 1 century and 5 half-centuries.
- Player of the Match: Chennai opener Devon Conway, who hit 47 runs in 25 balls in the final, was the player of the match.
- Player of the Tournament: Gujarat opener Shubman Gill was not selected as the player of the tournament. He scored a total of 890 runs this season. In the final too, Gill scored 39 runs in 20 balls.
